2012-crashes-feature

DC Fit Crasher is only a few months old, but it’s been a busy year and I am so excited to bring you more crazy, zany, sweaty crashes in 2013. Before we ring in the new year, let’s take a look back at some of the most memorable fit crash moments of 2012, shall we?

*drumroll please*

Without further ado, in no particular order, I present to you five of the crashes my muscles (or pride) will never forget.

What was your favorite crash of 2013? Let me hear it!

go, go, elliptigo: my new favorite fitness toy

If I had a dollar for every quizzical look, blast of laughter, or jaw-opening stare I got while cruising DC on the ElliptiGO last weekend…well, you know how this thing goes.

Readers, I present to you the chariot of workout machines: the ElliptiGO. Part bike, part treadmill, part walking on air. This machine is an injured runner’s dream and a fitness buff’s delight. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun on a device that’s supposed to burn calories. That’s right, I said it. Sorry spin bike.

My ElliptiGO adventure was made possible by the fine folks at Water Street Gym (thanks!). They were given a hand-full to demo and are hosting small groups for test-drives around DC each weekend. The ride I went on was hosted by Olympian runner Julie Culley, who uses the machine for training. The low impact elliptical on wheels is an awesome way to cross train without getting stuck indoors. If you’ve ever been injured and forced to aqua jog for hours on end, you know the deal.

Julie Culley shows us how it’s done.

Our small but mighty group took the Rock Creek trail by storm, which was a sight to behold on a busy Sunday morning. The trail was packed with runners and bikers enjoying the awesome weather…all of whom did a double-take as we swooshed on by.

ElliptiGO on your left!

We made a pit stop at the Dupont Farmer’s Market before circling back through Georgetown. It was an epic experience and I’m so excited I had the opportunity to be a part of the demo crew. Thanks Julie, Water Street Gym, and ElliptiGO. Until next time…
